Zuytdorp Cliffs & Dirk Hartog Island – Shark Bay Scenic Flight

This is our most popular Shark Bay scenic flight, offering an incredible aerial perspective of the region’s most iconic landmarks and coastlines. Departing from Shark Bay Airport, the flight begins with views over Denham Township before heading towards the remote salt ponds of Useless Loop, a vivid patchwork of colours framed by Freycinet Reach.

You’ll then soar across the sandy Bellefin Prong and trace the rugged line of the Zuytdorp Cliffs, a dramatic stretch of coastline carved by wind and sea. The flight continues northward to Steep Point, the westernmost point of the Australian mainland, where the swirling waters of South Passage separate the mainland from historic Dirk Hartog Island.

Throughout the journey, you may spot sharks, rays, turtles, and, during the right season, humpback whales, whale sharks, and the elusive dugong feeding in the kelp forests. On the return leg, fly across the southern half of Dirk Hartog Island, taking in the dazzling variety of turquoise shallows, reef structures, and sand bars that define Shark Bay’s extraordinary marine landscape.

A must-do for nature lovers, photographers, and those wanting a truly immersive Shark Bay experience from above.
